About Me
Objectives
I have wanted to student teach abroad since my sophomore year of high school after touring St. Norbert in the summer. I loved the idea of gaining a greater global perspective of teaching. I have been researching where I have wanted to go for awhile. I thought about Ghana, St. Lucia, and many others.
As I was researching which areas I might want to student teach abroad at, I knew I wanted to go somewhere warm. But as I started delving into what the schools were like and their philosophies, I fell in love with New Zealand's school. I would be teaching at Swanson School. In my professional goals below, I discuss what I want to learn about and take away from Swanson School.

Professional Goals
- Culturally, I am very interested in learning about the Maori Language as well as New Zealand's Sign Language (both nationally recognized languages).
- While at Swanson School, my goal is to develop my reading education skills to a higher level.
- In addition, I want to learn more about their "Free Play" or no rules recess as shown in this Dateline video below. They believe that students do what they want at recess and are able to better focus in school.
- I look forward to bringing back a piece of New Zealand's teaching style back to the states.
